At Pento we're building a better, faster, and more modern way for companies to run and automate payroll. Late last year, we raised a $2.8m seed investment from some of Europe's best investors, and we're now looking for more teammates to join our growing team — that's where you come in!

We’re looking for a Business Development generalist to help us help new companies discover, experience and adopt our product. Maybe that's you?

What is Pento? 🤔

We're a technology company, not an accountancy, payroll bureau, or similar. We build beautiful payroll software that automates all manual workflows and we usually help companies cut 50-80% off the time they spend on payroll. That means no spreadsheets, no e-mails, and no manual bank transfers. We've built an easy-to-use software product, that does all of this automatically.

The role ✨

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to help us grow and acquire new business. You’ll be the first member of our sales team in the UK and work closely with our CEO Jonas Bøgh and our Head of Growth Jakob Marovt to identify and nurture leads, follow up on new business opportunities, and close deals.

You’ll be on the front line of our business, and help us identify marketing initiatives to increase pipeline. You will also provide the product team with your input to ensure we continue to build the best product on the market.

You’ll focus on our UK market and can expect to be involved with two core areas: sales, and feedback gathering. This is a fast-growth company: if you're successful in your role there will be plenty of opportunities to grow and take on more responsibility.

Key responsibilities


  • You'll NOT do cold calls (our marketing takes care of leads);
  • You'll run demos with prospective clients;
  • You’ll handle objections and have the ability to clearly articulate why customers will massively benefit from Pento;
  • You’ll evangelise our product both online and offline by engaging and interacting with clients and prospects;
  • You'll stay in touch with your won customers, collaborate with customer success to ensure their success, and actively ask for referrals

Collect and share feedback

  • You'll collect insights around the pain points expressed by prospects using other solutions to run payroll;
  • You'll collect insights around concerns expressed by prospects while running demos;
  • You'll be the voice of our customers and share insights collected with your team and other business functions.

Job requirements

  • You have done this before and have proven track record of hitting your quota in business development/commercial focused role at a SaaS company;
  • You have the ability to quickly understand and empathise with pain points a potential customer is experiencing and clearly articulate why Pento is the solution to their problem;
  • You have an ambitious aptitude and sales instincts enabling you to hit and exceed your targets;
  • You enjoy creating compelling content for potential customers;
  • You have a can-do attitude and a bias towards action.
